The summer is an opportune time for students to take advantage of intensive and innovative learning experiences outside the traditional classroom. The Center for Learning Abroad (CLA) is highlighting the following programs offered by our approved program providers. The goal of off-campus summer programs is to provide students with exciting opportunities that expand and deepen their understanding of their major, or another field of interest.
 

ARGENTINA - Buenos Aires
June 28 - July 28, 2018 (4 weeks)
Price: $4,595
The Lynn-approved provider CEA will be hosting a 4-week course in Buenos Aires were you will delve into the national identity that thrives around Argentine sport culture and examine how the business of sport fits into politics and economics. You’ll meet professionals in fields like sport entrepreneurship and even gain practical business skills in sport marketing. During your four weeks you will take two courses that will transfer back to Lynn University as MKT 392: Sports Marketing and DSSG 300, for a total 6 credits!

AUSTRIA - Vienna
May 25  - July 6, 2018 (2 weeks)
Price: $6,685
Vienna, the birthplace of psychoanalysis and home to Sigmund Freud and numerous other legendary psychologists, you can experience both the history and practice of psychology from a unique vantage point. Explore the richness of this city’s past and present in an academic environment specially designed for the student of Psychology through the Lynn-approved provider IES Abroad.

CHINA - Shanghai
May 21 - June 18, 2018 (4 weeks)
Price: $3,850
Commercial giant; financial and cultural hub; the largest container port on Earth—there may be no better city to examine the rapidly changing nature of global business than Shanghai. Get introduced to the main issues around how China is changing economically and how it is affecting and affected by the global political-economy today. The 4-week program provided by the Lynn-approved provider CIEE consists of two courses, INB 496: International Studies in Business + LAN 010: Chinese Language, class field trips, business site visits and weekend cultural excursions to other major cities.

DENMARK - Copenhagen
June 11 - June 30, 2018 (3 weeks)

Renowned for its high quality of life, the Danish welfare system has been the topic of extensive research. Notably, Denmark’s education system ranks among the world’s best, particularly in early childhood development. Explore the multicultural contexts for childhood in Denmark and the Nordic countries by taking a course that will transfer back as ESL 330: Cross Cultural Communication. Through field visits, investigate practices around the themes of ethnic diversity, childhood discourse, and multiculturalism in Danish education and social policy. This course is taught and run by the Lynn-approved program provider DIS.

What is the role of culture in understanding how people function – our self-perceptions, relationships, personality, and psychological well-being? How are people’s lives, minds and behaviors affected by intercultural encounters, cultural transitions and cross-cultural mobility in a globalized world? And what is “culture” from a psychological viewpoint, after all? In this course taught by the Lynn-approved program provider DIS, you will critically examine the importance of culture for psychological processes, focusing both on cross-cultural comparisons and the ways people enact and shape their cultural identities in everyday life.

ECUADOR - Quito
June 5 - July 24, 2018 (7 weeks)

Study issues of environmental management and preservation in one of the most ecologically diverse countries on the planet with the Lynn-approved provider IES Abroad. This program will have you exploring Ecuador’s rich ecology and features a three week course-related excursion in the Galápagos Islands. In cooperation with the Galápagos Academic Institute for the Arts and Sciences (GAIAS) and the Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) you will explore tropical rain forests, the Páramo, cloud forests, tropical dry forests, mangroves, and the Galápagos Islands and earn 9 credits!

Take the summer and study in one of the oldest and modern cities in the world. Through the Lynn-approved provider AIFS, study at Richmond University and take two courses for 6 credits in a multiple of different disciplines or even complete an internship!

GERMANY - Freiburg

Through the Lynn-approved provider IES, take the opportunity to explore what the European Union (EU) is by intensively studying the past, present, and future challenges of European integration. The program begins in Freiburg, Germany where you’ll start a specialized curriculum that will take you on a 16-day experiential journey through Bosnia-Herzegovina, Greece and Cyprus.

Live and learn in the birthplace of the Renaissance. The epicenter for political thought, art and culture throughout the Middle Ages, Florence was home to some of the most recognizable thinkers and artists of the day including Machiavelli, Michelangelo and da Vinci. Although the political power that once resided there is no more, Florence's influence on the world of art, fashion, food and culture continues. This 4-week program through the Lynn-approved provider FUA includes a one-week cultural introduction course in Rome and the Region of Tuscany, in addition to three weeks in Florence during which students take two courses ranging from a list that includes Fashion Marketing; Food Culture and Society; Tuscany and Its Wines; International Marketing and more.

Tokyo, the economic, technical, and political hub of the country, is truly one of the world’s most vibrant and fascinating capitals—and a fashionista’s and gastronome’s delight! With housing in a central and easily accessible area, language training, and exceptional cross-cultural activities, you can pursue your academic interests while immersing yourself in Tokyo while you take two courses through the Lynn-approved provider CIEE at Sophia University and earn six (6) credits.

SPAIN - Barcelona

Delve into Barcelona and explore topics like the role of social media, photojournalism, and Spanish media through the Lynn-approved program provider CEA. Here you will learn how photojournalism has played a vital role in shaping the visual memory of our societies, and continues to do so through newer emerging media such as the internet and blogs, as well as traditional means, such as magazines, books and exhibitions.

Spend a summer in Barcelona exploring local culture, Spanish history, and business trends through the Lynn-approved program provider CEA. Choose from a range of courses taught at all levels of Spanish language ability, from beginning to advanced, as well as courses taught in English. Spanish language courses are available throughout the summer for all language levels to help enhance your understanding of the history, culture, and sociology of Spain through active engagement with the host city, people, institutions, and culture.
