Established to honor the Lynn University faculty and students who lost their lives during the earthquake in Haiti on January 12, 2010, the following need-based Memorial Scholarships are awarded to deserving students who best demonstrate a commitment to service and who would otherwise not be able to participate on a J-term program for financial reasons. Scholarships are available to student applicants participating on the J-Term Citizenship Project + Spanish Language and Culture program in either the Dominican Republic or Costa Rica.


Scholarships and amounts

- Stephanie Crispinelli Endowed Memorial Scholarship – Two (2) $2,500 scholarships 

- The Christine Gianacaci Journey of Hope Award – One (1) $3,600 scholarship

- Lynn University Global Citizenship Memorial Fund – One (1) $2,000 scholarship 
   

Scholarship application eligibility
- Full-time, undergraduate students with at least 15 credits at the time of participation 
- Requires financial assistance in order to participate
- 2.3 minimum GPA
- Accepted into either the program J-Term Citizenship Project + Spanish Language and Culture program in either the Dominican Republic or Costa Rica


How to apply
Please submit the following by the application deadline:

Application deadline: OCTOBER 2
All application materials listed above must be submitted to the Center for Learning Abroad (CLA), located in the Lynn Student Center (outside the Elmore Dining Commons) by 5:00 pm on October 1. The Scholarship Application and Essay, and/or the Recommendation Form may also be submitted via email to cla@lynn.edu.

Late and/or incomplete applications will not be considered.


Scholarship Recipient Requirements
Upon notification that he/she has been selected, the recipient of each scholarship will be required to write an Acknowledgment Letter addressed to those in the Lynn University community responsible for the creation of the scholarship funds. After returning from the J-term program, the recipient will also be required to complete a Remembrance Project, which will be presented to donors, revealing how his/her efforts and dedication during the program exemplified the spirit of those honored by the scholarships.
