Program Description

Hyderabad, known as the City of Pearls, is the fourth-largest cosmopolitan city in India and is at the heart of India’s rapidly developing global economy. The city is an urban mix of construction, music, clothing shops, inconceivable traffic, food bazaars, department stores, global businesses, and city sprawl. It is the capital of the southern state of Telangana and embodies the juxtapositions of old and new, north and south, Hindu and Muslim.

Through this beginning Hindi language and culture course, you'll travel to the City of Pearls and learn from Professor Rao basic Hindi. Born and raised in India, professor Rao will be the cultural bridge between Eastern and Western philosophies. Gain insight into the language, customs and traditions of India.

This program is administered by Lynn-approved provider CIEE. All students are enrolled in a two-credit beginning Indian language and culture course (DJLC 200: Indian Language and Culture in Tokyo, Japan) taught by Lynn professor Dr. Harika Rao. This course meets the J-term requirement for Language and Culture.
