Program Description

This program, in partnership with UPEACE, will take students on an exploratory adventure of Costa Rica. Students will meet with individuals and local companies that encompass all aspects of the world and how science relates to business, communication, and life itself. On this program, students will get to understand how coffee is made at the Starbucks Farm and Visitor Center. They will then discover the community Nacientes Palmichal, which offers an example of rural community tourism for sustainable development. The program rounds out with a free day in the famous Manuel Antonio National Park. Students can arrange zip-lining, horseback riding, or take advantage of the "pura vida" lifestyle on a white sand beach. The 9 day program offers a unique eco-tourism view of Costa Rica and is perfect for any student in any major who wants to fulfill the DSL 200 requirement. Students will take a full semester course and then travel to Costa Rica after the semester has ended. A final project will be due at the end of the program.

*Students should make sure to register for the DSL 200 section K before applying for this program*
